Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In the event of a discrepancy between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Buxton Car Hire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type. A valid full driving license appropriate for the rental category is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Buxton office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are usually collected at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. Payments are accepted through major credit and debit cards, processed securely by trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle from Buxton Car Hire, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and signed at this time. Please ensure the vehicle is returned in the same condition as when you received it, accounting for normal wear and tear; any new damage will be evaluated and billed accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same level of fuel as collected. If the fuel level is lower, refueling charges will apply. Late returns will result in additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate being late. You will also be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Full details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help limit your financial responsibility. It is beneficial to review these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional insurance is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Actions
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used for purposes it was not designed for, nor should it exceed the established passenger or weight limits. Unauthorized travel outside designated geographical boundaries is also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Buxton Car Hire disclaims responsibility for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, related to your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive authority of the courts in this jurisdiction.
10. Term Modifications
Buxton reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Your ongoing use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
